The torrential rains slowed and the floodwaters receded last week, allowing for the destruction and aftermath of the previous weeks flooding to be comprehended.  Property damage for the totality of the events is expected to total more than 2 billion dollars.  There was extensive damage and flooding caused in many areas of the Low Rolling Plains, Edwards Plateau, and South Central Regions.  Most if not all of the rivers in these regions crested at or above flood stage at some point during the week.

Forecast for the Week

The major weather events next week will likely occur in the southern portions of the state.  Most of South Texas and South East Texas remains under a flash flood watch and much of these areas should expect rain over the next few weeks.  As the week progresses the rain probabilities should decrease across the state.  The Panhandle, Red River, and North Central regions of the state should expect rain probabilities between 20-40% over the week, with temperatures varying from around 70 to the low to mid 90's.  The Trans Pecos Region will have low probabilities of rain and with temperatures ranging from the low 70's to the low 90's.
