Volume 16 Number 4.1                                                                                                  April 14, 2003

April 7th was an interesting week in Texas.  The week began quite mild with temperatures across the state in the 70’s for the most part. However, Tuesday the 8th was eventful as a very late season cold front made its way across the state dropping temperatures 10-15 degrees from the previous day.  Temperatures ranged from the lower 50’s in the Panhandle to the upper 60’s as far south as Brownsville. We all hope that this was winter’s last hoorah.  High pressure shifted eastward on the 9th, allowing for temperatures to moderate slightly. Temperatures remained in the 70’s until Saturday when almost the entire state experienced 80 degree or higher temperatures.

Forecast for the Week

For the week of April 14, 2003:  Temperatures will be quite mild Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 80’s across the majority of the state, lows ranging from the 50’s to the 60’s, and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.  On Wednesday a cold front is expected to move through the state dropping temperatures from 10-15 degrees.  In the Panhandle highs will be in the 60’s, and lows in the upper 30’s.  It does not appear that the remainder of the state will be impacted from this frontal system.  Temperatures for the regions with the exception of the Panhandle area will range from the 70’s to the 80’s as highs, and lows from the 60’s to the 70’s.  A decent chance of showers and thunderstorms exists from Wednesday through Friday.
