A very cold air mass combined with a strong upper level disturbance created very cold temperatures for the entire state and produced record-breaking snowfall in many locations.  The highest snowfall totals were reported in Central Texas near Waco where bands of heavy snowfall moved from west to east.  Many temperature records were set in various locations throughout the state.  Most areas reported record low minimums and low maximums on the 7th, but a few stations further to the south reported the records on the 8th.  Here is a table of snowfall values and temperature records:

Snowfall totals in bold indicate record values.

Temperature records in bold indicate monthly records as well as daily records.
