Monthly Review
September 2006 was an average month in terms of temperature.  The mean minimum temperature was exactly on
the normal value, and the overall monthly mean temperature was just 0.2° below average.  However, despite a few
periods of heavy rain, the precipitation total was -1.22" below average.  The area received 69% of its normal rainfall.
Most of the rainfall for the month came in a three day span from the 16th-18th.  Over this period  2.27", of
precipitation was reported, which is 84% of the 2.69" reported for the entire month.  The 2.03" reported on the 18th
was a record daily maximum and accounted for 75% of the monthly rainfall.  Only one new temperature record was
reported, which was a record high minimum temperature on the 22nd with a value of 81°F.  A strong squall line
moved through the area on the 23rd, but there were no severe weather reported in the area.  The system only
produced precipitation along the frontal boundry, which resulted in a precipitation total of only 0.39".  After this
frontal boundry passed through, temperature cooled down for three days before warming back up into upper 80s
and lower 90s.
