| *NOTE: All records are
based on observations taken at Easterwood Field (1952-present) |
| Monthly Review |
| October
started off very hot and dry, with three record highs in the first five days
of the month, and an |
| average
departure from the average temperature of 9.2. Relief came on the 7th in the
form of a cool front |
| which
dropped the high from 90 on the 6th to 70 on the 7th, however, only a trace
of precipitation came |
| with
the front, which brought the total of consecutive days without precipitation
to 39. The streak was |
| broken on the 10th when 0.97" of rain
fell on the area. Over the 10th and 11th, a total of 1.56" of |
| precipitation
fell on the area, bringing it much needed relief from thedry conditions.
However, the monthly |
| total
of 2.11" was still -2.11" below normal and brought the year-to-date
total to 26.99" which is 6.27" |
| below
normal. Despite the hot and dry start to the month, a cold front that moved
through on the 24th |
| brought
much cooler than average temperatures to the Brazos Valley. The lows of 38 on the 25th and 26th |
| were
the record lows were the record lows and the average departure from normal
over the 24th through the |
| 26th
was -12°. Overall, the monthly mean temperature was 71.5° which is 1° above
normal. All of the |
| month's precipitation came on the 10th, 11th,
and 31st, with totals of 0.97",0.59", and .55" respectively. |
