| Monthly Review | ||||||||||||||
| This May proved to be very dry. The storms that normally affect the area in May were held off by a very strong ridge | ||||||||||||||
| and the precipitation for the month is much less than normal. May is normally the wettest month in the Bryan/College | ||||||||||||||
| station area, with a normal total of 5.05", but this May only 2.65" fell during the month. That is only 52% of the normal | ||||||||||||||
| total. However, thanks to the wet March and April, the annual total rainfall is only 0.56" below normal. Almost half | ||||||||||||||
| of the month's total rainfall fell on the 6th, with a daily total of 1.22". No precipitation was reported between the | ||||||||||||||
| 15th and the 28th and temperatures climbed into the mid-90s. Temperatures for the month were 1.4°F above normal. | ||||||||||||||
| A record high was tied on the 19th with a temperature of 94°F. Overall, there were 13 days where the temperature | ||||||||||||||
| was 90°F or higher, 7 more days than the normal total of 6 days. Some relief to the hot, dry weather came at the end | ||||||||||||||
| of the month as an upper-level trough combined with the moist atmosphere and produced light showers and cloudy | ||||||||||||||
| conditions during the last 3 days of the month. | ||||||||||||||
