Monthly Review
The month of May was characterized by very dry and warm conditions. College
Station received very little precipitation this month, which has led to an
increased rain deficit for the year.  The month of May 2003 has been ranked as the
5th driest May on record since 1900 by the National Weather Service.  Easterwood
Airport reported 0.58 inches of rain for May, which is 4.22 inches below normal for
this time of the year.  College Station is entering a very dry period and the rain deficit
is at 6.72 inches below normal. The average temperature for the month was
3.3 degrees above normal for the month of May.  Hopefully some relief as far as
precipitation is concerned will be experienced in June.
