| The month of May was characterized by very dry and warm conditions. College | |||||||||||
| Station received very little precipitation this month, which has led to an | |||||||||||
| increased rain deficit for the year. The month of May 2003 has been ranked as the | |||||||||||
| 5th driest May on record since 1900 by the National Weather Service. Easterwood | |||||||||||
| Airport reported 0.58 inches of rain for May, which is 4.22 inches below normal for | |||||||||||
| this time of the year. College Station is entering a very dry period and the rain deficit | |||||||||||
| is at 6.72 inches below normal. The average temperature for the month was | |||||||||||
| 3.3 degrees above normal for the month of May. Hopefully some relief as far as | |||||||||||
| precipitation is concerned will be experienced in June. | |||||||||||
