Monthly Review
March was quite warm for the Brazos Valley.  The average daily temperature of 66.2° was 4.6
degrees above normal.  The minimum temperature on the 3rd tied the record of 69° set back in
1979.  Six other near records occurred during the month, all for high minimum temperatures.
Precipitation was normal for the month in the Brazos Valley as 2.78" fell.  There were 11 days
with measurable precipitation, however, four more than the average.  There were also 8 days in
which a trace amount of precipitation fell.  The largest rainfall came on the 16th and 17th as a
total of 1.19" fell over those two days.  The rain fall was due to several cold fronts that made
their way across the state throughout the month.  For the year, the Brazos Valley has received
13.24" which is 155% of the normal rainfall total up to this point.  The second half of the month
was much warmer as the high never dropped below 71° after the 14th of March.
