Monthly Review
July was colder and wetter than normal for College Station.  The first week of the month was quiet - temperatures
hovered around normal levels and little precipitation fell.  A cold front passed through the area on the 9th, with the
high on reaching 86° and 0.39" of precipitation falling.  A little more rain fell on the 11th (0.08"), and typical
summer weather then returned to the Brazos Valley.  A high pressure system settled over the state and clear skies
dominated the middle two weeks of the month.  At the end of the third week, temperatures reached a peak at
96°.  Late on the 25th, a cold front began to move across the area, and 1.74" of precipitation fell.  Temperatures
also dropped quickly; the 46-year-old record for lowest minimum temperature was broken on the 26th.  Clouds
Clouds covered the sky during the last week of July.  Another 0.11" of rain fell on the 29th, setting the monthly
total at 2.33", only 0.41" above normal.  The average temperature, however, was nearly two degrees below normal
for the entire month.  Through the end of July, College Station has yet to reach 100°.  Two other records were set:
the lowest minimum temperature on the 18th (78°F) and 19th (70°F).
