Monthly Review
The month of July was a warm and quite dry month in Texas.  However, in the College Station area
a monthly total of 4.06 inches was reported, which is 2.14 inches above normal.   For a period of
ten days, College Station received anywhere from 0.01 to 1.42 inches each day due to a convective
pattern in the atmosphere. However College Station is still 1.73 inches below normal for the year.
July brought 6 near record temperatures to the College Station area.  The low maximum
temperatures can be attributed to the rain cooled air caused by showers and thunderstorms.
The latter half of the month was quite predictable precipitation and temperature wise, with the exception
of the 23rd, with a high of 87 degrees reported.   The pattern assumed for the latter half of the month
was little precipitation, and hot temperatures.  College Station has been quite lucky this summer as
temperatures have not yet reached the century mark, which was reached numerous times last summer.
A frontal system on the 23rd passed through the state which helped to keep humidity levels down
slightly, and lowered temperatures by a few degrees as well.
The month of July concluded with high temperatures in the upper 90's and lows in the mid to upper 70's.
