| Monthly Review | ||||||||||
| The month of January in the Brazos Valley was one of temperature extremes. A high temperature of 77 | ||||||||||
| degrees was reported on the 3rd, and a low temperature of 28 degrees on the 6th, and 27th. This roller coaster of | ||||||||||
| temperatures was contributed to numerous cold front systems sweeping through the state. On the 4th, an arctic | ||||||||||
| cold front passed through the Brazos Valley dropping temperatures more than twenty degrees from the previous day. | ||||||||||
| A moderating trend continued through mid month until a second cold front moved through on the 17th. | ||||||||||
| This system produced rainfall in the area for 3 consecutive days. Numerous low pressure disturbances moved | ||||||||||
| across the state, especially on the 24th. In College Station at Easterwood Airport, a total of 2.29 inches of rain fell | ||||||||||
| on the 24th. Other areas in Texas also received copious amounts of rainfall. The month of January | ||||||||||
| ended with a precipitation total of 4.53 inches, which was 1.21 inches above normal, and on a cooler note. | ||||||||||
