Monthly Review
|
| February 1999 brought
extremely warm and dry conditions to the residents of the Brazos Valley. |
| Temperature anomalies were positive
for 24 days in the month, leaving only 4 days with below |
| normal temperature readings. The
mean monthly temperature for February was 8.4°F above normal |
| with a average monthly temperature
of 60.8°F. From the 6th to the 11th it was especially warm with |
| departures from normal averaging
around 20°F. Highest maximum and highest minimum temperature |
| records were set on the 7th (83°F,
62°F), while the 6th, 9th, and 10th all set new highest minimum |
| temperature records with low temperature
readings only dropping down to 67°F, 69°F, and 68°F |
| respectively. |
| This past month also turned out
to be the driest February on record for Easterwood Field with a |
| monthly rainfall total of 0.16".
This total broke the previous record of 0.20" of rain set back in |
| 1974. As of right now, the total
precipitation for 1999 is only 1.11" which already brings College |
| Station to 4.16" below normal
for the year to date. |
