Monthly Review
   February 1999 brought extremely warm and dry conditions to the residents of the Brazos Valley.
Temperature anomalies were positive for 24 days in the month, leaving only 4 days with below
normal temperature readings. The mean monthly temperature for February was 8.4°F above normal
with a average monthly temperature of 60.8°F. From the 6th to the 11th it was especially warm with
departures from normal averaging around 20°F. Highest maximum and highest minimum temperature
records were set on the 7th (83°F, 62°F), while the 6th, 9th, and 10th all set new highest minimum
temperature records with low temperature readings only dropping down to 67°F, 69°F, and 68°F
respectively.
This past month also turned out to be the driest February on record for Easterwood Field with a 
monthly rainfall total of 0.16". This total broke the previous record of 0.20" of rain set back in
1974. As of right now, the total precipitation for 1999 is only 1.11" which already brings College
Station to 4.16" below normal for the year to date.
