Monthly Review
February 2007 continued the cooler trend of January.  The monthly mean temperature was 53.2°F, which is 1.3°F
below normal.   The month started off cold with temperatures averaging 8°F below normal for the first four days of
the month.  Temperatures warmed up for a few days before a series of strong cold fronts moved through the area
and dropped the temperatures.  The first of these fronts moved through on the 9th and dropped temperatures to 9°F
below normal on the 10th.  The area was dry and only reported a trace of rainfall with the passage of this front.  The
next front proved to be the coldest of the year when it moved through on the 12th.  0.03" of precipitation was
reported with this front, but the cold air was the main factor.  Temperatures plunged for the next 6 days.  During this
span the temperature averaged 13.5°F below normal.  Record low highs were reported on the 14th and 15th, while
record lows were reported on the 15th and 16th.  The low temperature of 21°F was the lowest temperature reported
this winter.  Temperatures began to warm up as the month went on.  Highs in the low 80s were reported on the 21st,
22nd, 26th, and 27th.  The highest temperature of the month was reported on the 26th at 83°F.  Overall, February
was much drier than normal.  Only 0.08" of rainfall was reported for the entire month, 2.30" below normal.  The
fronts that moved through the area brought only cold air since there was not much moisture in the atmosphere.  The
total precpitation for 2007 is 5.06", 0.64" below normal.  February 2007 was the second driest February ever
reported.
