Temperature in degrees Fahrenheit Precipitation in inches "T" denotes less than or equal to 0.005" BOLDFACE indicates extreme values for the month ITALICS indicate a record was set or tied * Departure of the daily mean temperature, as calculated from the average of the maximum and minimum temperatures, from the 1961-1990 normals. Due to problems with the automated system at Easterwood, temperatures and precipitation totals are best estimates.

Monthly Review
December began on a mild note here in the Brazos Valley, yet warmed quite well by the 6th as the high temperature reached into the upper 70s. Very little precipitation fell during this time period which allowed for a warm first half of the month. By the 15th, an Arctic front brought freezing temperatures to the area. Significant accumulations were reported just to the north and west of Brazos County. Snow as big as silver dollars fell from the sky in College Station for at least 20 minutes, yet because the ground was too warm, the snow did not stay for very long. Record low temperatures were broken on the 18th and 19th as upper teens were reported across the region. TECHNICAL NOTE: The Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) was implemented at Easterwood Field this month. All daily and monthly statistics will now reflect observations based on this system.
