Monthly Review
The last month of 2007 started off much warmer than normal. The overall pattern across the United States
prevented any intrusions of Canadien/arctic air from diving south into Texas. Through the first half of the month,
average daily temperatures were as much as 18º F above normal. Several records for highest maximum and
minimum temperature were tied or broken, including a record high of 83º on the 9th. A cold front moved
through the area on the 16th, dropping daytime highs into the 50's. Temperatures quickly rebounded, however, and
highs in the 70's prevailed from the 18th through the 22nd. A stronger cold front pushed through the Brazos Valley
just in time for Christmas. The lowest temperature of the month (27º) was observed on the 23rd. The cool weather
remained in place over the next 7 days. Temperatures moderated the last two days of the month before a strong
cold front moved through to kick off 2008. For the month, the average temperature of 55º was 2.8º above
normal. The monthly precipitation total of 3.84" was 0.61" above normal.
