Monthly Review
The last month of the year was rather dry across the Brazos Valley, and temperatures
fluxuated considerably throughout the month.  Although no temperature
records were broken this month, highs were 2.1 degress above normal,
and the monthly mean was 0.8 above.  Very little rain fell at the Easterwood Airport
yielding a monthly deficit of 2.01 inches; but College Station finished the year over
four and a half inches above the 39.67 inch annual normal.  A cold front passed through
the area on the 4th, cooling temperatures but delivering no rain. The next front that
came through on the 10th, cooled temperatures and brought some light rainfall.  The
most significant precipitation came on the 12th with the passing of a warm front, followed by
a cold front that droped temperatures to the upper 40s for highs.  Following another weak
disturbance on the 16th, temperatures reached the mid 70s on the 22nd, followed by
some rain associated with a cold front.  Temperatures rebounded once again into the mid
70s, then moderating in the last few days of the year.
