| Monthly Review | ||||||||||
| The month of August was cooler than normal, with the exception of the 7th and 8th, when | ||||||||||
| temperatures reached 103 degrees Fahrenheight. College Station has lucked out this summer, | ||||||||||
| as the city has only reached the century mark 2 times during the summer season to date. | ||||||||||
| This month was dry for the most part until the 11th, when 0.73 inches of precipitation fell | ||||||||||
| as a result of a frontal system that made its way across Texas triggering precipitation in its | ||||||||||
| wake. Temperatures rebounded from rain-cooled air on the 11th, and remained in the mid to | ||||||||||
| upper 90's until the next precipitation event on the 21st. A stray sea-breeze shower trekked | ||||||||||
| toward the northwest and stalled over College Station, dumping 2.12 inches of rain on the city | ||||||||||
| in a matter of a few hours. The sea-breeze phenomenon contributed to almost half of the | ||||||||||
| precipitation received for the month of August. The latter half of the month was quite | ||||||||||
| predictable with high temperatures in the upper 90's and lows in the middle 70's. | ||||||||||
| Dry conditions persisted until the end of the month when 1.48 inches of precipitation fell as | ||||||||||
| a result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Grace. | ||||||||||
