Monthly Review
The month of August was cooler than normal, with the exception of the 7th and 8th, when
temperatures reached 103 degrees Fahrenheight.  College Station has lucked out this summer,
as the city has only reached the century mark 2 times during the summer season to date.
This month was dry for the most part until the 11th, when 0.73 inches of precipitation fell
as a result of a frontal system that made its way across Texas triggering precipitation in its
wake.  Temperatures rebounded from rain-cooled air on the 11th, and remained in the mid to
upper 90's until the next precipitation event on the 21st.  A stray sea-breeze shower trekked
toward the northwest and stalled over College Station, dumping 2.12 inches of rain on the city
in a matter of a few hours.  The sea-breeze phenomenon contributed to almost half of the
precipitation received for the month of August.  The latter half of the month was quite
predictable with high temperatures in the upper 90's and lows in the middle 70's.
Dry conditions persisted until the end of the month when 1.48 inches of precipitation fell as
a result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Grace.
