Monthly Review
The month of November was dry for the most part in the College Station area.  A low pressure
system situated in Deep South Texas lingered in the area beginning on the 2nd of the month,
then developed into a warm front on the 3rd, and finally into a stationary front on the 4th. This
area of disturbed weather increased the chance of thunderstorms and showers developing in
South Central, Southeastern, and Southern Texas. Easterwood Airport received abundant rainfall
on the 4th of November, with a record 24-hour precipitation total of 4.56 inches reported. This
exceeded the previous record of 3.61 inches from 1914. The rain-cooled air on the 2nd-4th kept
high temperatures below normal, and a record of the 4th lowest maximum temperature of 57
degrees was tied on the 2nd. On the 4th, another near record for the 4th lowest maximum temp-
erature was reached at 54 degrees F.  The stationary front cleared the area of rain on the 5th, and
allowed for a warming trend to occur, reporting temperatures in the 70's on the 5th, and in the
80's on the 9th and 10th.  On the 9th of November, College Station tied it's highest maximum
temperature of  86 degrees. The record high for the 10th is 86 degrees, which was set in 1995.
A temperature of 63 degrees was also reported on the 10th which tied the 4th highest minimum
temperature. The record highest minimum temperature is 69 degrees, and was reported in 1985.
Toward the middle of the month, temperatures were decreased slightly by weak cold front
passages on the 11th, and the 15th.  A major cold front was finally felt on the night of the 24th,
as highs on the 25th topped off at about 59 degrees Fahrenheit, a near 16 degree drop from the
previous day.
