Monthly Review
August brought more typical summer-like weather to the Brazos Valley. As opposed to June and July,  which
saw below average daily maximum temperatures and above average rainfall, August was marked by above average
daytime highs and below average precipitation. High pressure built in across the region in the middle of the month
bringing with it the warmest temperatures of the summer. College Station recorded three straight days of 100º
temperatures from the 17th through the 19th. Average daily temperatures from the 10th through the 15th were
several degrees above normal. The rest of the month was highlighted by average to slightly above average
temperatures as southeast Texas remained under the influence of high pressure. Although there were 9 precipitation
days recorded during the month, the monthly total of 1.40" was over an inch below normal. The average monthly
temperature of 85.4º F was 0.7º F above normal.
