I tried to address some of the more common questions I recieve that only require a short answer. If I get any that require a longer answer then I can post them on the tutorials page. If you have a question for me send me an email.


Can I check my neo mail through an email client?
Yes. The TAMU help desk has written some simple instructions on how to do this. They have the instructions broken down by mail client and can be found at the Help Desk Central.
How do I add a networked printer to my Windows 2000/XP PC?

How do I update my Windows PC?
Please visit the Windows Update site on a regular basis. This site is located at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. You can also right click on My Computer and select properties. In the new window you should see a tab labeled Automatic Updates and in there you can adjust your update settings as you like.
Can I set-up Outlook to check my Ariel account mail?

How can I tell if my computer has been infected with a virus?
There are a few possible signs that your computer could have a virus.
  • Computer seems to run slower than usual with no programs running
  • Your email program seems to be sending out e-mail that you did not send yourself.
  • Any other strange behavior your computer may be exhibiting.
If your computer seems to have any of these symptoms or other strange behavior please either disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer or the wall and contact Brandon to come and check out your computer.

How can I access my ariel e-mail from off campus?
You have two options for accessing your ariel mail off campus.
  • The first is to download the VPN client for A&M. You will need to know your CLAIM account login to download the VPN client. This lets the campus servers think you are behind the A&M firewall. Download the client through the Texas A&M VPN site.
  • Second you can SSH into ariel and use Pine or another UNIX mail program to read your email.
