Introduction to MOTL Computers

Tips and Rules

You have decent access to the rest of the world from here, and you are free to explore the Internet before or after class, as long as no other classes are using the computers and space is available. The primary purpose of these machines is meteorology education, so please respect them and allow others to use them. Be also warned that movie playing abilities are substandard and it's probably not worth trying to download any loops.

There are a few other miscellaneous rules. First, no pages or images that might reasonably be thought to be objectionable to others. Help keep this as a learning environment. Second, no audio downloads. They are disruptive to anyone else in the room, and are grounds for being penalized with an absence if done during class time. Finally, no food or drinks in the computer lab. If you have food or drink with you, you may leave it on the table beside the door. In summary, don't have fun, don't make noise, don't tell, and above all, don't feed the computers!

To close this lesson, I turn you over to the ATMO 203 home page. You may begin exploring! If you encounter something interesting, share it with your neighbors, with me, or with the rest of the class.

Summary

In this lesson, you (hopefully) learned how to click on buttons and links to move around in Safari navigator, how to move windows around, how to delete windows, how to start Netscape, and how to log in and out. You should now be fully prepared to explore the Internet.
