The Weather program, written by Peter Neilley at NCAR (the National Center for Atmospheric Research), obtains weather data for the requested stations and times. This tutorial will show you how to use the Weather program and its three interfaces, and can be used as a reference manual when you need to do something different or unusual.

  1. To be able to use Weather via Netscape, via a shell window, and via Telnet.
  2. To be able to access surface observations, both decoded and raw.
  3. To be able to access National Weather Service forecasts.
  4. To be able to access watches and warnings, and to determine where warnings are active.
  5. To be able to access specific requested weather information.
